*Attendance Policy
Absences- Five absences will be allowed to each student per class taken with the exception of dance team students who are only allowed 4 absences. Any student who has missed more than their allowed absences in a particular class runs the risk of being kept out of the recital; however, make-ups are allowed to erase some absences.
Make-ups- Students are encouraged to make up their absences. To do this students have two options. The best way to make up a class is to attend one of our make-up days. There will be 4 make-up days throughout the school year which are yet to be announced. Students wishing to attend a make-up day should inform their instructor at least 1 week prior to the make-up. This will allow us to plan the day's schedule accordingly. You may attend a make-up day before you actually miss a class and it is encouraged to attend as many make-up classes as possible to take care of any future absences. The other way you may make up a class is by scheduling a private make-up lesson with your teacher or an instructor experienced in your form of dance. These private make-up classes will cost $12.00 for a half hour and will be scheduled according to your and your intructors availability. WE WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWING STUDENTS TO ATTEND CLASSES OTHER THAN THEIR OWN IN ORDER TO MAKE-UP A CLASS.
Tardiness- Students who are more than 5 minutes late to a class will receive a "tardy". Four tardies in one class will be equal to an absence.
Sit-outs- Students who are injured or feeling under the weather are encouraged to sit out and watch class if they are able in order to maintain their attendance. Three sit-outs will equal an absence. Instructors must be advised by a parent if a student is to sit out of class.
Perfect Attendance Awards- Students who are able to maintain perfect attendace throughout the year will receive an award at the end of the year!
As previously stated, students may make up classes in order to wipe-out their absences. However, students will only be able to make up 4 of their absences in each class in order to gain back their attendance. This does not mean that students may only come to 4 make-ups, students may attend as many make-ups as they wish, but only 4 absences will be erased as a result. It is extremely important that students practice with their own class. Multiple make-ups will not make up for the time missed in ones own class. The best way to acheive perfect attendance is to come to every class! Therefore, we are restricting the number of make-ups allowed per class to only 4.
Students who join our school after January 1st will unfortunately not be eligible for a Perfect Attendance Award. If would be unfair to those who have been working towards it all year!
All classes must be made up by June 1st in order to receive a perfect attendance award. Any make-ups after this date will not count towards perfect attendance. Trophies must be ordered in advance and we therefore need to set a cut-off date. Students must also maintain perfect attendance after this date!
In order to receive a Perfect Attendance Award a student must have perfect attendance in all of their classes, not just one. So if a student is taking 2 classes and has perfect attendance in one but not the other, he/she will not be eligible for this award
*If a problem arrises where you will not be able to abide by this attendance policy but wish to hold your spot in class or in the recital please contact your instructor as soon as possible so that we might work something out!
