Additional Reminders:
Absences
5 absences are allowed through the course of the year per class taken. If a 6th absence should occur for a particular class, the student will be required to schedule a private make-up lesson with their instructor to hold their spot in class and in the recital. Students may not be allowed in the recital if they have missed more than 6 classes. Any student who misses more than 3 classes in a row will be considered an “inactive” student, and will be re-charged a registration fee should they return to class. Any student who has more than 3 absences in a particular class between the months of March-June will be removed from the recital dance for that class. Any time a student should miss class, even with a doctor’s note, it will be considered an absence. We will excuse absences that are due to a death in the immediate family.
Make-Ups
Students are encouraged to make up their absences. To do this students can either attend one or both of our 2 make-up days throughout the year or they may make up a missed class by scheduling a private lesson. Private make-up lessons will be scheduled according to the student and instructor’s availability
Tardiness
Students who are more than 5 minutes late to a class will be marked “tardy”. Four tardies in one class will be equal to an absence. Any student who is more than 10 minutes late to class will be asked to sit out for that day, as they have missed the necessary warm-ups to safely participate in dance class.
Sit-Outs
Sick or injured students are encouraged to sit out and observe class in order to maintain their attendance. Three sit-outs will be equal to one absence. Instructors must be advised by a parent verbally or by note if a student is to sit out of class. Students sitting out of class must do so the entire class. Students sitting out for more than one week must provide a doctor’s note. Observing students should take notes during class. It is the student’s responsibility to be caught up by the following class.
Perfect Attendance Awards
Students who are able to maintain perfect attendance will receive a trophy at the end of the year. Students who join our school after December 1st will unfortunately not be eligible for a Perfect Attendance Award. Students who have missed more than 4 classes will be ineligible for a Perfect Attendance Award regardless of the number of classes they make up. All classes must be made up by June 1st in order to receive a Perfect Attendance Award. In order to receive a Perfect Attendance Award a student must have perfect attendance in ALL of their classes.

Costumes for the recital will be ordered in the late fall. Costume prices vary according to style and size, ranging from $40.00 to $70.00 per costume. All students will have a costume ordered for them unless they make the director aware of their decision not to participate in the recital by November 1st. Once a costume has been ordered for a student, he or she is expected to pay for that costume in full.
A $25 Costume deposit per student is due at the time of registration ($100 max per family). This deposit is only required for performing classes. Students who opt not to perform in the recital must make Jazziak's aware IN WRITING by November 1st in order to receive a credit for this deposit. Costume payments are due in full by February 1st. A 15% late fee will be applied monthly to outstanding costume balances to help offset interest charges. Costume prices are posted at the studio when available. Costumes are not returnable and non-refundable. All outstanding balances must be paid for in full before a costume may go home. We require a parental signature for costumes to be taken home. Once costumes are taken home, they are your responsibility, and you will, therefore, be accountable for any loss or damages.
There is a “payments” box to the right of our front door inside the lobby. Payments should be left in this box–please do not leave payments on the reception desk. If you are leaving cash, please include your name and the purpose of the payment enclosed with your money. All checks should be made out to Jazziak’s Dance School. Please specify in the memo what the check is for. There is a $15.00 charge for all returned checks.
Payments are due at the beginning of the month. You are paying for your entire year in 10 installments (September to June), not paying for the length of the month itself. Any student with payment more than one month overdue will not be allowed to participate in class.
Families may combine hours to receive exceptional prices. This, however, does not include adult students. All fees are fixed and will not be adjusted due to absences, cancellations, holidays, or shorter or longer months, including the months of September and June.
